  1. Soak chickpeas overnight.
  2. Next day,boil till tender.
  3. Soak rice for 30-40 minutes.
  4. Boil rice with whole spices.
  5. Drain water and keep the rice aside.
  6. Chop onion and tomatoes.
  7. Mix yoghurt and powdered spices together.
  8. Heat oil in a pan.
  9. Fry onion till light golden.
  10. Add in ginger garlic and tomatoes.
  11. Bhoono well till tomatoes are tender.
  12. Add in spiced yoghurt and BH oo no well till oil floats on top.
  13. Add in chickpeas and Bhoono well.
  14. Add in 1/2 a cup of water.
  15. Cook covered till masala thickens and moisture evaporates.
  16. Layer half rice in a pan.
  17. Put chickpea masala over it.
  18. Throw in lemons,green chillies,mint and ginger.
  19. Cover with remaining rice.
  20. Drizzle both milk and kewra over it.
  21. Cook covered on dum for 10-15 minutes.
  22. Serve with raita and salad.
